PugliaSlowTour Summer 2017: 6 Great Success Stories

Sunday, September 24, took place the last of the 6 cycling stages of PugliaSlowTour, the design idea of Cooperativa Serapia winner of the regional announcement InPuglia365 Summer 2017 included in the rich program of the Strategic Tourism Plan # Puglia365 and the Project Implementation Reception and promotion promoted by Puglia Promotion.

The Serapia Cooperative, which for years has been engaged in sustainable tourism, hiking and environmental education in the Apulia region, with PugliaSlowtour has wanted to give value to those places considered "minor", such as the districts scattered in the Murgia of the Trulli and linked by the fascinating Aqueduct Pugliese .

The idea is to give life to 15 bikers, from the age of 5, to a day of discovery and sharing of true Puglia knowledge and flavors, pedaling about 15 km per stage in places rich in both landscape and art-historical beauty , learning the most ancient and rooted traditions of individual places from the direct experience of artisans, farmers and massarias, and by entire local communities.

By taking a short excursion, cyclists have pedaled from Putignano to Cisternino, and from the Selva di Fasano to the outskirts of the Eastern Murgia of Monopoli and Castellana Grotte for a total of 75 km; they admired the historic centers of Putignano and Alberobello, with their trulli, cummers and gnostra; we went through the Cyclades of the Aqueduct Pugliese, climbing on the Devil's Bridge and Cecca Bridge; they knew the secrets and stories of sacred places linked to the Francigena and Michelangelo streets, such as the San Michele Grotto in Monte Laureto, the church of Barsento, that of St. Mark in the homonymous district, and the fascinating St. Michael church in Frangesto; we have admired unique views such as the one on the Pyrrhian Canal from the Minaret to the Selva of Fasano, or as the natural balcony on the Adriatic of Zuzù and Tumbinno; they have enjoyed the most authentic wines and wines of the Murgia dei Trulli, such as mozzarella and cheese from Masseria Papaperta, mezzipreti with Cardanella mushrooms of Casanova, verdeca and sheep in the pignata of Masseria Catucci, Panzerotti of Comasia of Cocolicchio, focacce and the Parmesan cheese of Anna of Masseria Torre Moscia; they tasted the excellent organic oil of Mrs. Star of the ath. Agricola Malvisco, took part in the grape harvest in a vineyard of the Locorotondo PDO, built of small stone trulets thanks to the master Francesco Annese, created by the sympathetic podopentola with the technique of engraving thanks to the master baker Vittorio Lupoli, they also learned to make friselle and the bacon thanks to Mrs. Anna Lisi ... and they had fun like crazy playing old games, such as the bowls of the trulli of the wonderful Cocolicchio.

In short it was an experiential tour that has successfully united the pleasure of using the bike and the desire to know and participate in the life of a true Aussie.

For all those who still want to live with Serapia the most beautiful moments of this Pugliaslowtour have been activated an facebook page and an ad hoc site and a website / blog that is www.pugliaslowtour.com, where are the travel stories, photos taken by participants and shared videos on facebook and instagram with the hashtag #pugliaslowtour # inpuglia365 and #coopserapia. The photo with more i like will win a special slowtour for two people by boat at Polignano a Mare ... obviously always in the company of expert guides of the Serapia Cooperative.

Fourth Step PugliaSlowTour: San Marco - Aqp - Vitamara - Cocolicchio

It's Sunday morning, San Marco is awake already at 9 o'clock: there is Mass in the new Church! As the ladies dress up with the beautiful sundown dress, we are ready with our fancied boobs, our helmets and our biking boots. Everyone in the saddle, we face a steep descent through the wind in the hair, leading straight to Cupa and the first yellow and black gate of the APP. We overcome it laterally and enter into a straight stretch that, after some pedalos, between oaks, figs and dunes, leads us to the Relais the Palmento. This is indeed an area of innumerable trulli that alternate between a vineyard and the other: we are at the heart of the Locorotondo DOP. Let's resume the way of the QPP and literally jog on the water.

Right at the entrance to the Unesco town we meet the Annese workshop, where Francesco Annese is waiting for us. An expert master with a passionate experience of father to son, Francesco with a few words, but with a clear language of his hands, he shows us how a trullo builds from nothing.

He is so good that he teaches everyone to build a classic Alberobello souvenir: a trullo made with real limestone. is a moment and, with great smile, adults and children, we become all "little" masters!
